The Role of Community Pharmacists

The Role of Community Pharmacists

Community pharmacists are the health professionals most accessible to the public. They supply medicines following a prescription or when legally permitted, sell them without a prescription. In addition to ensuring an accurate supply of appropriate products, their professional activities also cover counseling of patients at the time of dispensing of prescription and non-prescription drugs, drug information to health professionals, patients, the general public, and participation in health-promotion programs. They maintain links with other health professionals in primary health care.

The main activities of community pharmacists are described below.

  • Processing of prescriptions.

They verify the legality, safety, and appropriateness of the prescription order, check the patient’s medication record before dispensing the prescription, ensure accurate dispensing of medication quantities, and more, like those of the pharmacists in the pharmacy in Tallahassee, Florida.

  • Care of patients or clinical pharmacy.

They collect and integrate information about the patient’s drug history, clarify the patient’s understanding of the intended dosage regimen and method of administration, direct the patient of drug-related precautions, and monitor and evaluate the therapeutic response of patients.

  • Monitoring of drug utilization.

Our retail pharmacy in Florida has a team of pharmacists who participates in arrangements for monitoring the utilization of drugs, such as practice research projects and schemes to analyze prescriptions for the monitoring of adverse drug reactions.

  • Informing health care professionals and the public.

They compile and maintain information on all medicines and provide this information to other health care professionals. Patients will then use it in promoting the rational use of drugs.

Some pharmacies provide medication management in Tallahassee, such as WCRx Health. If you’d like to know more, you can visit the official page of WHO, or browse through our website to learn more!
